Janoski Ad Agency changes name, business approach

Columbus agency Janoski Advertising Design flew under the area advertising industry's radar for almost 12 years.

But agency President Jason Janoski has changed the firm's name to Attaché Inc. amid sudden, if not spectacular, growth. The company, situated in a bank building on North High Street in Clintonville, has seen its annual revenue explode from $600,000 in 2002, largely from advertising work, to $8.6 million last year.

How did Attaché do it? Two pharmaceutical clients needed expanded business consulting services, including employee recruiting.

"Janoski was a small shop with three or four people who did a couple of things," he said. "Now we do so much, it's incredible."

Business First ranked Attaché the 18th-largest ad agency in Greater Columbus, with more than $877,000 in advertising revenue last year. The bulk of Attaché's business is with pharmaceutical companies and pharmaceutical recruiting.

Attaché's client list includes the U.S. subsidiary of Boehringer Ingelheim GnbH, a German drug maker that is the parent of Columbus' Roxane Laboratories Inc. of Chadds Ford, Pa.

Janoski began working with Boehringer Ingelheim in 2002 on marketing projects and later expanded into other services as at Endo Pharmaceuticals.

The firm provides advertising, marketing, communications and personnel services, including recruiting. It employs field-based sales representatives on behalf of clients.

"The bigger we get, the easier it is to grow," Janoski said. "Folks that we called (who) did not want to talk to us two years ago are now calling me,... One significant client can influence another significant client."

Other Attaché clients include Little Tykes Co. of Hudson, Apple Computer Inc, and McKinney Aerospace, an aircraft refurbishing company in Dallas.

Though he retains full ownership of Attaché, Janoski has instituted a profit-sharing plan for the staff.

"It's been fascinating for me to watch from a sociological perspective," he said. "It's 'our place'...It allows us to provide better services. I'm here to support my co-workers who interact with and support our clients."

Attaché employs seven full-time workers and eight staffers on a contract basis.
